Traditional Lime Pointing
& Other Services
Jonny is trained in many other aspects of heritage stone restoration and stone masonry, also carrying out stone-facing and construction works with both lime and conventional cement-based mortars.
Traditional lime-pointing for the conservation of historic properties.
Most buildings built before the 1930s were constructed and pointed with 'lime-mortar'. Today the owners of heritage properties are realising the importance of this method to the preservation of their buildings. Unlike conventional Portland cement, which is usually too 'hard' for the soft sandstones of Northumberland, and 'rots' the faces of the stones, lime mortar allows a building to breathe naturally, so prolonging its life.
